Breath of Light installation was developed during COVID-19 pandemic and exhibited at a Shanghai Biennale. It is a projection based installation that detects participants breathing with a microphone and represents as repeals of water. It supports a mindful interaction and reinforces synchronization by producing a large captivating ripple and a Tibetan gong sound in response to synchronization. The installation invites participants to reflect on the transformed connotations of shared breathing in peri-pandemic times and strives to remind participants of the connective power of breath.
This project was developed by Pinyao inspired by the conceptual work went into the development of my project, JeL. After Breath of Light has been exhibited, I contributed to unpacking the reflective capacity that this piece offers, in the context of changing connotations of shared breathing through peri-pandemic context.
